The Ministry of Your Scars

John 20:24–29

A scar is evidence that the wound did not win.

Pastor Siam W. Ndela · CANA Ministries

After the resurrection, Jesus still carried scars. His scars did not contradict His victory; they testified that death had been defeated.

Your scars are not proof that God abandoned you. They can become evidence that He carried you through and healed what once threatened to destroy you.

01

Jesus did not hide His scars

Thomas needed to see the wounds. Jesus allowed the place of former pain to become a doorway to faith. What has been healed in you can help another person believe that restoration is possible.

02

God does not waste pain

He does not call evil good, but He is able to redeem what happened. He turns healed pain into compassion, wisdom, discernment and a testimony that points people toward Christ.

03

Do not minister from an open wound

An open wound still needs care. A scar has passed through healing. Give God permission to cleanse the pain, confront bitterness and restore your heart before you make the experience a public message.

04

What was a prison can become a pulpit

The place that once held you can become the place from which you announce God’s faithfulness. The focus is not the wound; the focus is the Christ who brought you through it.

Put the teaching into practice

  • Bring the unhealed places honestly before God.
  • Release the people and memories you have carried in bitterness.
  • Share your testimony with humility when it can strengthen someone else.
RF

Personal reflection

  • Am I speaking from healing or reacting from pain?
  • What has God taught me through what I survived?
  • Who may need the hope carried by my testimony?
