THE TEACHING
The story of faith does not begin with human achievement. It begins with God. Before the foundation of the world, the Father purposed to bless us in Christ, adopt us as His children, redeem us by the blood of Jesus, and gather all things under the authority of His Son. Our salvation is therefore not an emergency plan or a reward for human effort. It is grace rooted in God’s eternal purpose.
That purpose is centered on Jesus. Christ is not one part of God’s plan; He is its center and goal. All things were created through Him and for Him. Through His cross, God makes peace and reconciles people to Himself. He also brings formerly separated people together, creating “one new humanity” in Christ. The Church is not merely a meeting place. It is a people joined to Christ and to one another, a living display of God’s wisdom.
This changes how we see our lives. We are not saved only to escape judgment or to pursue private blessing. We are called into God’s purpose: to know Christ, be formed by Him, discover the grace He has entrusted to us, and be sent as witnesses. Our individual stories find their proper place inside the larger story of God’s work in Christ.
CANA RESPONSE
Begin with worship, not self-importance. Ask how your life can make Christ known and help build up His people. Receive the journey: **Encounter Christ. Be formed. Discover your grace. Be sent.**
REFLECT
- What does it mean that God’s purpose is centered on Christ?
- How does belonging to Christ change the way you see the Church?
- What part of the CANA journey are you living right now?
CLOSING PRAYER
Father, thank You that Your purpose is rooted in grace and revealed in Jesus Christ. Draw my life into Your purpose. Form me among Your people, and make my life a witness to the wisdom and goodness of Christ. Amen.
