Talent is celebrated, influence is pursued and success is displayed, while integrity is often neglected. God is calling His children to crown character again.
Character is not merely the image we present publicly. It is the person we are when nobody is watching.
Whatever is true and noble
Truth refuses deception, exaggeration and hidden compromise. Nobility means living honorably—with motives, manners and morals worthy of respect.
Whatever is right and pure
God’s Word—not popular opinion—remains our standard. Purity governs what we watch, imagine, desire and practice. It protects fellowship, family, witness and assignment.
Whatever is lovely and admirable
Christlike character carries conviction with compassion and strength with gentleness. It leaves people strengthened, builds trust and makes the grace of Christ visible.
Character must be crowned again
Character must be crowned in the home and in the Church. Gifts may attract attention, but only godly character can faithfully carry the weight of influence.
Put the teaching into practice
- Guard what is permitted to remain in your thoughts.
- Make private choices that agree with your public confession.
- Speak truth with love and strength with gentleness.
Personal reflection
- Are my private life and public confession consistent?
- Have I tolerated anything that weakens purity?
- Does my conduct help others see Christ?
