The open hand of God.
“These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season. That thou givest them they gather: thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good.”Psalm 104:27–28
Psalm 104 lifts our eyes from the provision to the Provider. Every creature waits upon God because He alone is the source of life, strength and every good thing. The channels may change, but the Source remains faithful.
GOD PROVIDES IN DUE SEASON
The psalmist says that God gives them their food in due season. Divine provision is not careless or late. God understands both what we need and the season in which we need it. Waiting is not proof that His hand is closed; He may be preparing us to carry what we have been asking Him to release.
WHAT GOD GIVES MUST BE GATHERED
The verse does not only say that God gives. It says, “That thou givest them they gather.” Grace does not remove responsibility. God opens His hand, but we must open our eyes. What He provides must be recognized, gathered and faithfully stewarded.
Provision may arrive as an idea, an opportunity, a relationship, a small beginning, a skill to develop, or wisdom for the next step. Do not despise what comes in seed form because you were expecting a finished harvest.
HIS OPEN HAND IS FILLED WITH GOOD
God is not reluctant, anxious or impoverished. His hand is open, and what comes from Him is good. Honour the channels God uses, but worship the Source alone. Gratitude keeps the gift from becoming an idol and reminds the soul that every blessing begins in the generosity of God.
PERSONAL APPLICATION
Ask the Lord what provision you may have overlooked because it arrived in a smaller form than you expected. Receive His timing without anxiety, gather what He places before you, and steward it with faithfulness.
C.A.N.A. RESPONSE
Come Before God — Quiet your heart before the One whose hand is open.
Acknowledge His Truth — Confess that God is your faithful Source and His timing is wise.
Notice His Work — Identify the provision, opportunity or seed He has already placed before you.
Act in Obedience — Gather it, steward it and use it for the purpose He intends.
THOUGHT TO PONDER
What provision from God have I overlooked because it arrived in a smaller form than I expected?
Prayer
Father, You are the source of every good thing. Teach me to wait upon You without anxiety and to recognize what Your hand is providing. Give me wisdom to gather faithfully, steward responsibly and remain grateful in every season. Keep my heart devoted to You—not merely to what You give. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
