Remember His benefits.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”Psalm 103:2

Psalm 103 is David’s call to his own soul. He refuses to let pressure, responsibility or familiarity make him forget the goodness of God. Before he speaks to anyone else, he preaches remembrance to himself.

FORGIVENESS

God forgives our iniquities and does not deal with us according to our sins. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. We do not serve to earn mercy; we serve because mercy has already found us.

HEALING AND RESTORATION

The Lord heals and restores. He is compassionate toward human weakness and attentive to the places in us that are wounded, weary or broken. His care reaches the whole person.

REDEMPTION

He redeems our life from destruction. God does not merely pull us out of the pit; He crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies. Redemption gives us a new position, a new testimony and a new future.

RENEWAL

He satisfies our mouth with good things so that our youth is renewed like the eagle’s. When strength has been spent, God is able to renew it. His goodness is not only behind us; it remains sufficient for the road ahead.

FATHERLY COMPASSION

As a father pities his children, the Lord has compassion upon those who fear Him. He remembers that we are dust. God understands our limits more deeply than we do, and His fatherly compassion meets us there.

PERSONAL APPLICATION

In seasons of calling, responsibility and waiting, your relationship with God must remain deeper than your assignment for God. Before you think about what God wants you to accomplish, remember what He has already done for you. Before you speak to others about His goodness, let your own soul remember His goodness. Before you serve with your hands, worship Him from your heart.

The servant must never become so occupied with the work of the Lord that he forgets the God of the work.

C.A.N.A. RESPONSE

Come Before God — Slow down and turn your attention from the assignment to the One who called you.

Acknowledge His Truth — Name His benefits and confess that every good thing begins with His mercy.

Notice His Work — Remember specific ways He has forgiven, restored, redeemed and renewed you.

Act in Obedience — Serve today from gratitude and intimacy, not pressure or spiritual performance.

Prayer

Father, teach my soul to remember Your benefits. Keep my relationship with You deeper than my work for You. Renew my strength and help me serve from a place of gratitude. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
