The Call Is Born in His Presence

CENTRAL TRUTH

Presence comes before assignment.

Fellowship comes before ministry. Formation comes before public expression. Before Jesus called the twelve to preach, heal, lead or serve, He called them to be with Him.

“And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach.” — Mark 3:14
01

God calls us to Himself before He calls us to a work

We often measure calling by the size of an assignment, but God begins with relationship. Jesus did not first give the disciples a platform; He gave them access to His presence. They watched Him, heard Him, walked with Him and were changed by Him.

02

His presence separates God’s voice from human noise

There are many voices—expectation, ambition, fear, comparison and applause. The secret place quiets them. As we remain with Christ through prayer, worship and Scripture, our desires are purified and His voice becomes clearer.

03

The secret place prepares the public vessel

God prepares His servants before He presents them. Moses met God at the burning bush. Isaiah saw the Lord before he said, ‘Here am I; send me.’ Paul and Barnabas were separated for ministry while believers worshipped and fasted.

04

Never go where God’s presence is not leading you

Opportunity is not always instruction. A door may be open and still not be your door. Moses understood that reaching a destination without God would never be success.

05

Your calling becomes clearer as you remain near Him

You do not need to force clarity. Keep returning to Jesus. Obey what He has already made clear. The One who called you is faithful to reveal the next step at the right time.

FINAL CHARGE

Remain where God is.

Do not become so occupied with finding your calling that you move away from the One who called you. Listen where God speaks. Wait until God sends you. And when He sends you, carry the presence you encountered in private into the assignment He gives you in public.

The strength of your calling will always be connected to the depth of your fellowship with Jesus.
